Good Kids, a drama: Nov. 1-3, 2019 - Tickets ON SALE NOW!

Spring Awakening, a rock musical: Feb. 20-23, 2020

TIFFIN UNIVERSITY, Tiffin, OH—Tiffin University’s TiffinArts Performance season, 2019-2020, opens with two impactful theatre productions—Good Kids and Spring Awakening.

Good Kids, a drama by Naomi Iizuka will be performed Nov. 1-3, 2019 in the Tiffin University Marion Center, located at 235 Miami St. in Tiffin. Under the direction of Mika Gibson, Good Kids examines the aftermath of a casual sexual encounter gone wrong in a world of smartphones and social media. The lead character Chloe, played by Marin Tillman (music major, Columbus, Ohio) must deal with this private situation in a very public way. Characters will reconcile what it means to be a “good kid” amidst serious accusations.

Good Kids was created for the Big Ten Theatre Consortium, in a campaign to produce plays about women and written by female playwrights.

Tickets are now available for purchase at www.tiffinmusic.com/goodkids and at the door before each performance. General admission is $5, and free admission is available to TU students with student ID.

Spring Awakening will be presented Feb. 20-23, 2020, with tickets going on sale in December. Under the direction of Aly Horn, the rock musical Spring Awakening introduces adolescents in Germany during 1891, examining issues of sexuality, self-discovery, and belonging.  Accompanied by what's been called “the most beautiful Broadway score this decade. “Spring Awakening is a landmark musical about coming of age and societal expectations.  This show is TU’s second-ever musical theatre production.

Spring Awakening has had two successful Broadway runs since its premiere in 2006, earning three Tony awards. It's music, written by rocker Duncan Sheik, earned a Tony for Best Score, and a Grammy for Best Soundtrack.

Both Good Kids and Spring Awakening productions examine important societal issues that will inspire faculty-led discussions, conversations and forums on campus for TU students and the community.

"TU's theatre productions this year will have a huge impact on audiences -- and our campus," said Brad Rees, Executive Director of Arts Programs. "Good Kids is incredibly powerful and its messages are so important in our current time. And Spring Awakening is one of the best musicals of our generation, with phenomenal alternative rock songs that will showcase our student talent."

Because of their subject matter, these productions are not recommended for anyone under the age of 16. For additional information, please call 419-448-3366 or email arts@tiffin.edu.
