Meet Lisa Handshoe, founder and owner of Chamber member, Handshoe Cakes and Cookies. Located in Republic at 6085 East State Route 18. Her shop offers a wide-range of products including cakes, cookies, gluten-free cookies, sugar-free cookies and more.

Established as a home-based business in 1999, Lisa grew from 2 to 3 cakes a week, along with a babysitting business, to now running the business full-time where she creates more than 18 cakes a day during graduation season and 500 dozen cut out cookies during the holiday season.

Lisa has grown her business by word-of-mouth marketing and through her philanthropic heart as she has supported many community events by providing donations. Lisa notes that her business really took off when she created a Facebook page.

Even though her business has grown, her generous acts have remained the same. Lisa still donates her baked goods to community events and started Project Cookies from Home three years ago. In the first year of the project, she mistakenly ordered 500 shipping boxes, instead of 25. Since then, she has certainly put those 500 boxes to good use by sending more than 29,000 cookies to men and women in the military.

Lisa’s doors are open from 12:00 to 5:00 pm on Wednesday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm on Thursday and Friday and from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday. She also takes her shop on the road several times a year for the Tiffin Y-Wives, Seneca County Board of DD-Seneca County Opportunity Center, and Seneca East craft show events.
