Feature Friday: Tiffin 200: Bicentennial Celebration

Feature Friday: Tiffin 200: Bicentennial Celebration
March 11, 2022

Happy Feature Friday, where every Friday the Chamber team will highlight one of our fantastic members by repping them for the day and telling the community more about them. This week's Feature Friday is: Tiffin 200: Bicentennial Celebration!

This week's feature Friday is special because we are highlighting the City of Tiffin and their Bicentennial, which is being celebrated all year long!  The Tiffin 200: Bicentennial Celebration committee is comprised of community members who take great pride in our city.  They have planned five signature events throughout the year, and the event to kick everything off is just TWO WEEKS away!  Join the community on March 25, 2022 at 6pm at The Ritz Theatre in Downtown Tiffin for the Tiffin Bicentennial Proclamation.  Not only does the evening include an official proclamation from City of Tiffin Mayor, Aaron Montz, but guests will get to enjoy the presentation of the United States flag, singing of the National Anthem, recognition of Tiffin’s First Settlers and distinguished guests, and a historical walk through of how Tiffin came to be and its history. Prior to the event’s start, guests can enjoy historical pictures of Tiffin, order a Tiffin 200 building plaque, check to see if their family is one of Tiffin’s First Settlers, and more in the lobby of The Ritz Theatre.  This event is free and all are welcome and encouraged to attend!

Other events for the year include a HUGE 4th of July Celebration featuring Darryl Worley, a Farm to Table Dinner experience, the Heritage Festival Parade which will be themed around Tiffin's birthday, and the final Tiffin 200 celebration which will feature a Ballreich's potato chip drop.  Outside of the events that the bicentennial committee are planning, the community has joined in in the celebration with events of their own and by putting a Tiffin 200 twist on already existing events.  Coming soon, you will see special bicentennial themed light pole banners in the downtown area and might even catch a glimpse and selfie with a life-sized cut out of Josiah Hedges, Tiffin's founder.

Outside of events, there are lots of ways to show your Tiffin pride.  Simply Susan's can put the Tiffin 200 logo on almost anything your heart desires.  From sweatshirts to keychains to magnets, you can remember the 200th year of Tiffin for years to come.  Hawkes Crystal can etch the Tiffin 200 logo into any of their beautiful glass pieces.  If you purchase a Tiffin 200 piece from Hawkes, you will be entered to win the serving platter in the picture above.  All glass is hand cut by master brilliant cutter, Aidan Scully.

There is  a ton going on and lots of fun to be had by all ages! To learn more about Tiffin history and how to celebrate the bicentennial, follow Tiffin 200: Bicentennial Celebration on Facebook or visit: destinationsenecounty.org/tiffin-bicentennial.  We are so excited about 2022 and are happy to support!
