Leafy Oaks Campground Cuts Ribbon to Celebrate New Bridge

Leafy Oaks Campground Cuts Ribbon to Celebrate New Bridge
May 20, 2022

Congratulations to Leafy Oaks Campgrounds on their significant investment into the bridge and road that now welcomes their guests into the campground!

Leafy Oaks Campground was originally a dairy farm before it was developed into a campground in the 1960’s. The 35 x 50 building that is now the camp store still holds many memories for many returning customers as it was the former dance hall where it held many weddings, graduation parties, bingo, and potluck dinners to name a few.

The four previous owners to Randy & Joan Faneuff made many additions to the number of campsites, improved restrooms, sewer sites and playground. Leafy Oaks has over 200 campsites on 30 acres, along with 30 acres of hiking trails and 20 acres of undeveloped land.

When Randy and Joan purchased Leafy Oaks in 2004, they had a lot on their plate, including the opportunity to change the reputation of the campground into a family campground. Over the last 18 years the 1/8th of a mile road leading to the camp store office was deteriorating and was only a single lane, causing many to drive off the side of the road as other vehicles and campers made their way in and out. The road passes over a drainage ditch which used to flood numerous times throughout each year with heavy rains.

They started their journey to find a contractor to build a higher bridge and widen the road in 2008. In April 2021, they were finally able to make the much-needed improvement for their guests after years of challenges. While living onsite, they saw a daily transformation in the 1/8th of a mile landscaping. Their seasonal campers are extremely pleased with the new road and bridge, and they can’t wait for their returning overnight guests to experience this amazing project.
