Address:
Beeghly Park
Bloomville,

The inaugural Daniel Wood Memorial Tournament is being held this weekend, July 16-18, in Bloomville at Beeghly Park.  Daniel Wood (Woody) was a Tiffin Columbian graduate and baseball player.  Woody had a big personality and was a tremendously outgoing young man who left a lasting legacy on everyone his life touched. He poured his heart and soul into his family, passions, and business. He lived a life full of smiles and laughter, but also had his struggles.  Sadly, Daniel ended his life on November 28, 2018.

His parents, Karen and Everett Wood, sister and brother-in-law, Keesha and Kenny Lawrence, and former coaches Curt Mellott and Tony Vasko have organized this tournament to honor his name, raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention, and to continue to generate funds for the Daniel Wood Scholarship Fund.

There are 11 games throughout the weekend (full schedule on the Daniel Wood Memorial Baseball Facebook page), an adult homerun derby Saturday 4pm, raffles, apparel sales, music, and more.

The tournament organizers are encouraging spectators to come out and watch some great baseball games, enjoy some food and refreshments from the concessions, enter in some raffles, and help promote a great cause.

Opening ceremony is starting just before the Friday 4pm game which will include an opening pitch by Woody’s 4 year old son, Parker Wood.

If you cannot make it out and wish to make a contribution to the Scholarship Fund you can contact Keesha Lawrence at 419-618-9085.
