Faculty Recital: Jeffrey Manchur, piano. Pairing canonic works by Franz Schubert and Johannes Brahms with modern works by Ann Southam and Kaija Saariaho, this recital program considers how stories and sounds resonate through history. Culminating in the transcendental first movement of Schubert’s Sonata in Bb, one of his final works, written as he knew he was dying at the age of 31, the juxtaposition of past and present explores the redemption of time in our lives.
