Marquita Smith and her son Adam Fries purchased a broken-down building at 205 Washington St., Republic and turned it into Smokey’s Family Restaurant & Tap which opened in 2015.  Smith was able to trace the building  back to 1850, she is unsure of when it was built.  Pieces of history can be seen on the walls; in 1916 it was home to the Kanan Bakery.  The building sat empty for at least  six years before they purchased it;  and needed a lot of work.  It was renovated with help from the entire family taking over three years.  

Smokey’s Family Restaurant & Tap  offers many homemade recipes and daily specials. Smokey’s  strives to prepare all food with only the finest ingredients. From the homemade meatloaf topped with their own barbecue sauce (yes- homemade too!) to their thick one-of-a-kind Smokey Burger!  Smokey’s has a wide variety of foods to tempt your appetite.

Relax in the front dining room for a family-oriented atmosphere with old artifacts and local photos displayed.   Or if you want to catch the game, join the gang in the back at the penny bar for one of 9 beers on tap. Whatever the season, they are sure to have the game on of your choice. Another dining option is to sit outdoors and enjoy their patio area.  Carry out and ordering online are also available.
