Feature Friday: Seneca County Board of DD & Seneca Parks

Feature Friday: Seneca County Board of DD & Seneca Parks
April 01, 2022

Happy Feature Friday, where every Friday the Chamber team will highlight one of our fantastic members by repping them for the day and telling the community more about them. This week's Feature Friday is: The Seneca County Board of DD & Seneca Parks!

The Seneca County Board of Developmental Disabilities in partnership with Seneca Parks is bringing a whole new meaning to accessible and inclusive play for all.  Opportunity Park, which is located at 780 East CR 20 in Tiffin, behind the Seneca County Opportunity Center, is getting a makeover.  Demolition of the old playground and equipment that is currently there will begin on Friday, April 1 and continue on Saturday, April 2, thanks to Tiffin University and Heidelberg University football teams, the Leadership Seneca County Class of 2022, and community volunteers.

The original Opportunity Park became a reality in 2008.  It was the first park of its kind dedicated to being accessible and inclusive for those individuals with special needs.  Now, more than a decade later, the time has come to make Opportunity Park bigger and better.  While the park is located behind the Seneca County Opportunity Center, it is open to the public and is meant to be an inclusive area for all and home to recreational opportunities for every citizen in Seneca County.  Opportunity Park will be able to accommodate all levels of physical and developmental disabilities.  In addition to the new playground equipment, there are also plans for sensory pods, nature trails, and more to be installed as the phases of Opportunity Park roll out.

Opportunity Park can be accessed from South SR 100 and TR 151 on East CR 20.  Work on the park is estimated to be completed for use by Summer of 2022.  The right to play belongs to all, thank you to Opportunity Park for making it possible.  We love having these organizations as Chamber members and as change-makers in the Seneca County community!
