Congratulations to the Tiffin Community YMCA on their 100-year anniversary!
The Association was voluntarily organized by the local citizens in April 1923 and the property, building and equipment were devised and bequeathed by Mrs. Della Shawhan Laird. In the late 1970s a joint effort between the Community Pool, Inc. and the YMCA resulted in the establishment of a complete recreational complex at the YMCA’s current site at 180 Summit Street in Hedges-Boyer Park.
Through the 1980s and 1990s the YMCA added a fieldhouse in the existing building, which included three basketball courts and one tennis court with an eighth-mile track, and an additional basketball gym. The current wellness center was created in 2005 and a major remodeling project took place in 2016 through a successful $2 million capital campaign. In January 2018, the Tiffin Community YMCA and the Bucyrus Area YMCA merged, and the YMCA of Bucyrus-Tiffin was formed.
The YMCA is dedicated to building a healthy community by nurturing the body, mind, and spirit of every person who enters our doors. The YMCA is excited to be able to serve the community and offers a wide range of programs, classes, and resources to become the best version of yourself.
The Tiffin Community YMCA is open Monday through Friday, 5 AM to 8 PM and Saturday from 7 AM to 3 PM. They also now have the ability for members to add on to their membership to allow them 24-hour access to the fieldhouse and fitness center. Learn more at www.BucyrusTiffinYMCA.org.
