October 18, 2023

Sisters In Shelter is thrilled to announce that they are the recipient of several grants and a fundraising donation. These funds reflect support for the organization’s commitment to ending the scourge of human trafficking and highlighting their critical work with trafficked survivors.

Sisters In Shelter was awarded a $10,000 grant from the National Machinery Foundation, Inc., a $2,500 grant from the White Family Charitable Fund through the Tiffin Community Foundation and was named the recipient of $2,000 raised during the Firelands Association of Realtors Purse Bingo Fundraiser.

"I am deeply honored and grateful for the support Sisters In Shelter received from these foundations. They represent a collective commitment to addressing the grave issue of human trafficking,” said Jennifer Kin, Executive Director of Sisters in Shelter. "These grants and donations will enable us to expand our outreach, enhance our programs that make a significant impact on survivors of human trafficking."

These financial contributions will be used in four different areas. First to expand awareness campaigns by educating community members to recognize the signs of human trafficking and how to report it. Second, to provide critical support services to survivors which includes shelter, counseling, legal aid, and vocational training. Third, to improve outcomes for the survivors by enrolling them in programs such as art therapy and stress-relief, and other therapeutic interventions which encourage self-expression, relation, and personal growth. Fourth, to increase outreach efforts to vulnerable populations and work closely with law enforcement and other agencies to combat trafficking.

We invite the community to join us in our mission. There are several ways you can get involved, from volunteering your time to making a donation. Together, we can make a difference and create a world where human trafficking is eradicated, and every person is treated with dignity and respect. Look for upcoming events in the area to support these efforts.
