The H-L School District is located in west central Seneca County. It is primarily rural, encompassing approximately fifty square miles. The district borders Tiffin on the east and Fostoria on the west. The district's 755 students are housed in one building on a site at Bascom's edge. Of their enrolled students, approximately 40% are open-enrolled from other districts.

The district offers Career Technical Education through Vanguard Sentinel Career & Technology Center. Seven of their teaching staff members are College Credit Plus (CCP) certified, allowing them to offer in-house CCP courses. Students may also choose to take CCP courses off-campus or online.

H-L Schools is excited to offer additional educational opportunities through the Chieftain Academy. Because all students' needs are different and all learning styles are not the same, students may choose an online curriculum, with a teacher on staff in charge of monitoring attendance and progress and aiding in the delivered instruction.

The mission of H-L Schools is to provide a quality and relevant education that upholds the values of the entire school community. They will achieve this by offering a functional curriculum that nurtures all learners at all levels in a safe and supportive educational environment.

The Hopewell-Loudon community takes great pride in its school system. High academic standards are the norm, as evidenced by outstanding achievement testing. With an average class size of 20 and regularly earning a 5-star rating from the Ohio Department of Education, H-L Schools strives to give students a quality education in a small school setting. Their student attendance rate consistently ranks in the top 5% of all public schools. The attendance rate and near-zero dropout rate create an atmosphere of excellence.
