The NCOESC Sensory Santa Workshop will take place this Sunday, December 10th, at NCOESC Tiffin Campus (928 W. Market St.) from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.

The NCOESC Parent Mentor is sponsoring the "Sensory Santa Workshop," which will have sensory-friendly activities. It will provide families with activities to do while they wait to see Santa. All rooms are optional for each family.

This is a community event and is open to the public.

NCOESC Superintendent Brenda Luhring says, "The goal is to make families of all needs feel welcome. We understand some kids may struggle going to see Santa, so we are doing our best to support those children and give them an opportunity to enjoy the holiday season."

There will be five rooms, each with a theme and activities for kids.

The Lobby will have a welcome table for registration and a small gift (while supplies last). Tiffin Columbian High School Band members will play Christmas music in front of our large Christmas tree. There will also be a thank-you table with another small gift (while supplies last) for all children.

The Sensory Room will have Olaf and his Reindeer friend. "Rodney the Magician" will also be there, spreading the magic of the holiday season. Some of the activities in this room include "Arctic Adventure," which has fake snow to dig through to find the Arctic animals. Many other tables will each have a different activity.

There will be a Story Time Room, which will have pictures to color. These pictures were drawn by a local artist, Clint Kimmet, who is an individual with a disability. Our school counselors and the therapy dogs will be in a reading corner. This will be a quiet, calm room for those who need that space.

There will also be a Snack Room for making snacks and decorating ornaments.

Finally, you will get a turn to go into Santa's Room to talk and take pictures if you'd like. He has his own room so kids can enjoy a calm quiet visit, or maybe they want Christmas music playing. We will adjust the environment as best as we can for each family to enjoy their visit with Santa.

Superintendent Luhring says, "This NCOESC Sensory Santa Workshop is taking place because of the hard work of our parent mentor, Erin Simmons, and all of our wonderful volunteers. What a great way to get in the holiday spirit!"
