Community Read: Author Visit

Janet Beard, author of the Atomic City Girls.  This historical novel focuses on the everyday people who worked on the Manhattan Project during World War II. It takes place in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where thousands of people are working in military plants but have no idea they are generating uranium to fuel the atomic bomb.

As part of the Community Read 2019, Tiffin-Seneca Public Library will host a series of special programs to honor the book The Atomic City Girls by Janet Beard. The Community Read encourages Seneca County residents to read a book, then come together to think, share, and engage.

As the featured event of the Community Read, the bestselling author will speak on Thursday, March 28 at 7:00 p.m. at the Tiffin Middle School cafetorium. There will be a question and answer session and book signing after the presentation.

The Community Read is made possible through a grant from the Tiffin Community Foundation’s White Family Charitable Fund of the Tiffin Community Foundation, the Tiffin-Seneca Library Foundation, and generous local donors.

All events are free and open to the public. No registration is necessary, and all events will take place in the Frost Kalnow Room, unless otherwise stated. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library.

Copies of The Atomic City Girls are available for checkout at the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library, the Ohio Digital Library, and hoopla. Paper and Ink will have copies for sale leading up to the event, and limited copies will be available for purchase at the author presentation.
